This DMP-PBD35K Blu-ray player comes packed with impressive stats. It not only offers incredible HD images, resonating sound, and 5x the data capacity of DVDs, but this is the first Blu-ray player with Final Standard Profile (or full BD Java) capabilities. Huh, you ask? Take, for instance, the picture-in-picture Enhanced Commentary feature. View a pop-up of the the director or actors during a fight scene in, say, the Pirates of the Caribbean. Other Final Standard Picture features include Backstage Pass, Peek Behind the Animation, and Audio Mixing. Sounds inclusive? It is. |

Get the HD picture |
|
You bought an HDTV with the finest quality video reproduction in mind. Time to materialize your mind's desires. The DMP-BD35K touts Panasonic's proprietary P4HD (Pixel Precision Progressive Processing — how's that for a tongue twister?). The P4HD samples over 15 billion pixels per second to create a detailed picture with lifelike textures. Plus it uses 16-level motion detection to ensure on-screen movement stays blur-free. Special processing is applied to diagonal lines to eliminate jagged edges, for smooth, realistic contours. The player's high-quality video digital-to-analog converter can reproduce over four trillion colors. Now that's just impressive. |
Surround Sound Completes The HD Picture |
|
Thanks to Blu-ray, there's no better way to experience true-to-life audio in a home theater environment. DMP-BD35K is capable of passing the awesome power of Dolby® TrueHD and DTS-HD&trade. King Cong practically thunders through your living room thanks (or maybe no thanks...) to the DMP-BD35K. Note: Bitstream output using required HDMI connection for Dolby Digital/Dolby Digital Plus Decoder, Dolby True HD Decoder, DTS/DTS-HD High Resolution Audio Decoder). |

To make it completely clear and alleviate your fears: You can still enjoy all your current favorite CDs and DVDs, no matter the format. In fact, they look and sound better than ever before, because the DMP-BD35K can take your current DVD library and upconvert it to a near high-definition experience via 720p/1080i and 1080p, output through the HDMI connection. Satisfied? |
HDMI: Defining High Performance |
|
HDMI (High-Definition Multimedia Interface) is the first interface to carry both high-definition video and multi-channel surround audio together in a single cable without compromising performance. This makes HDMI far less messy, expensive, or complicated than most other hookups. And since HDMI is a pure digital-to-digital signal, it outperforms analog connections such as Composite, S-Video, and Component Video by delivering the digital signal without requiring any analog-to-analog conversions that can degrade picture quality and sound quality. |
Blu-ray Disc Features |
|
Blu-ray discs can store 25GB (single layer) or 50GB (dual layer) on a single sided disc — about 5 to 10 times the capacity of a DVD. Blu-ray discs also support the highest quality HD video available in the industry (up to 1920 x 1080 at 40 Mbit/sec). Large capacity means no compromise on video quality. Furthermore, a Blu-ray disc has the same familiar size and look as DVD. |
Reduce Cable Pile-Up With HDAVI |
|
EZ Sync&trade HDAVI Control lets you operate all of your home theater components by pressing a single button on your TV's remote control. If you have even a moderately complicated home theater setup, you probably have a pile of tangled cables on the floor behind it. Imagine replacing all those cables with a single cable that carries both digital video and audio at the same time. |

HDMI (High Definition Multimedia Interface): The unit's HDMI simplifies A/V connections by carrying video and digital audio all in one cable. This unit features HDCP copyright protection technology, and must be connected to an HDCP-compliant device. If your TV has a DVI input instead of an HDMI input, you can connect this unit to your TV using an HDMI-to-DVI adapter. You will also need to connect audio cables to the player because DVI is a video only cable. The menu has these setup options for the HDMI output:
Component Video: The component video resolution can be set to 480i, 480p, 720p, or 1080i. When the HDMI output is turned on the component resolution is fixed at 480i.
Composite Video: The composite video output is always live and fixed at 480i. It can output video when playing a Blu-ray Disc.
Digital Audio Output: The Audio menu allows you to select the digital audio format that is passed through the optical and HDMI outputs. Three separate settings instruct Dolby Digital, Dolby Digital Plus, Dolby True HD, DTS-HD, and DTS soundtracks to output Bitstream or 2-channel PCM audio. 96 kHz audio signals can be down sampled to 48 kHz if the connected amplifier or pre-amp will not accept signals at that sampling rate.
Analog Audio: There is one pair of stereo analog RCA outputs.
Ethernet Port (LAN): 10BASE-T/100BASE-TX Ethernet port which lets you connect the player directly to the Internet to access bonus material available on some Blu-ray movies.
SD Card Slot: There is an SD card slot located on
the front panel of the player behind a fold-down panel that will
accept SD, SDHC, MiniSD (with adapter), MicroSD (with adapter) cards.
