does not have a built in converter! This means that
you will be able to play Pal discs on a Pal TV,
and NTSC Discs on a NTSC TV. If you have a multi
system TV that supports Pal and NTSC then you will
be able to play both Pal and NTSC discs on your
TV. In order to play a Pal dvd on a NTSC tv, or
NTSC dvd on a Pal TV, you will need a external Video
Converter.
This dvd player will not play
a PAL (European) movies on a NTSC (United States)
TV. To do this you will also need to buy a Video
Converter.

buy a High Definition dvd player?
As Video technology
progresses, we have any now entered
into a age of
High Definition Video.
Almost all new TVs are High
Definition Ready, (HD Ready or HD
compatible). Although most of us
have purchased these new TVs, many
of us have not upgraded our DVD
players. This is really a shame
because those of us are not
utilizing our TVs to their full
potential. Buying a DVD player that
is High Definition will allow you to
receive Video in High Definition
outputs such as 720P, 768P, & 1080i.
These output offer a much much
clearer, sharper image, with less
artifacts. If you don't already
have a HD ready TV, then your next
TV will probably be HD or HD ready.
In my opinion, using a regular
progressive scan dvd player with a
HD TV is like putting regular fuel
into a Race car! It just doesn't
make sense. So, to watch your dvd
movies with the best picture quality
on your TV, we recommend to go with
a Hi Definition player that
up-converts the signal to 720p,
768p, or 1080i.

HighMAT
High-Performance Media Access Technology (HighMAT),
co-developed by Panasonic and Microsoft, designed
to significantly improve interoperability for
digital media content between PCs* and popular
electronic devices such as CD players, car stereos
and DVD players. HighMAT is a digital-media
standard that provides a dramatically improved
method of storing, arranging and playing back
personal digital photo, music and video
collections on recordable discs such as CD-RW
media. At this time, our HighMAT-compatible
Panasonic products have HighMAT Level 2
functionality which includes compatibility only
with audio files and JPEG still image files.

Progressive Scanning
Progressive Scanning (480p) creates a picture
signal with double the scan lines of a
conventional DVD interlaced picture (480i),
resulting in higher picture resolution, sharper
image quality, and the elimination of virtually
all motion artifacts. In order to take advantage
of a progressive scan DVD player, your TV must be
capable of accepting and displaying a progressive
scan signal (480p).

Advanced Surround (V.S.S.)
Simulates a surround sound effect using only the
front two speakers*, so you can enjoy Dolby
Digital. 5.1 channel discs without an elaborate
home theater system.

Dialogue Enhancer
Most of the movie dialogue recorded in
surround sound formats (Dolby Digital., DTS.*,
Dolby Pro Logic.) is heard through the center
channel speaker, and sometimes this channel can be
overwhelmed by particularly loud sounds emanating
from the other speakers in your surround sound
system. The Dialogue Enhancer increases the center
channel volume (relative to other channels),
making movie dialogue easier to hear and
understand.

Makes it easy to find a previously recorded
program on a disc. A list of recording dates,
times, channels and (user-entered) titles are
shown on screen. When you move the cursor to any
particular recording, the segment is played in
the background, so playback can begin
immediately upon selection. Program deletion,
protection, and title input are also easy to
perform. This feature can handle up to 99 titles
at once.

When playing back a DVD-RAM disc only, this
feature allows you to use the navigation menu on
the disc that was created using a Panasonic DVD
Recorder as specified above. No editing of the
navigation is possible using a DVD player.

Perform simple non-linear video editing, such as
rearranging the order of scenes, skipping over
unwanted scenes, or copying selections -- to
create custom playlists of favorite scenes on a
disc.

feature allows you to use the custom playlists
on the disc that were created using a Panasonic
DVD Recorder as specified above. No editing of
the playlists is possible using a DVD player.
