PAL playback on NTSC TV and NTSC playback on Pal TV:

 We are not very impressed by Philips technology in this dvd players, but for the bargain hunter THE Philips DVP-3140 is a good choice to occasionally play dvd movies. We do have many others choices, please see the comparison chart below. This player has good features, but it often has problems due to it's poor design and laser pickup. Playing DVD-r and +r discs or any disc that had even minor scratches was almost impossible to play on this unit when we were testing.

Please also consider one of the following players that add HDMI output, and are better quality players:
