Features
Once you record TV shows or
home movies to this unit’s big 160GB hard drive, you’ve
got great editing and playback options: Store programs and
keep them indefinitely. Delete them after viewing to free
up disc space. Edit your home movies and set up menus,
wallpaper, and playlists. Or, you can burn content to DVD
at high speed. Disc Backup even lets you make a direct
file transfer of a home-movie DVD to the unit’s hard
drive, and from that make perfect copies of your original
DVD for all of your family and friends at blazing speed.
The amazing Chase Play feature lets you watch your
favorite TV show from the beginning after you’ve already
begun recording it. The DVR-630H-S also features a
built-in PAL/NTSC TV tuner, and plays any region code
DVDs, CDs, MP3s, and WMAs. The user-friendly unit burns
DVD-R and DVD-RW discs at the touch of a button.
It’s not just computers that contain a hard disk drive.
Now a Pioneer DVD recorders namely the Pioneer DVR-530H-S
and Pioneer DVR-630H-S have this important feature. It
allows you unprecedented freedom in recording, editing,
and playing back your favorite shows and movies.
Here’s how it works. When you record TV shows, your
favorite movies, or home movies, the content is stored on
the hard disk drive. The DVR-630H-S contains an 160GB hard
disk drive. For 80GB Hard Disk Drive model see Pioneer
DVR-530H-S
Warning:
All dvd recorders are encrypted by a copy-protection
format that will prevent you from recording copyrighted
movies. However, we do have a
copy-protection eliminator box that will allow you to
record VHS and DVD movies into this dvd recorded. Please
remember that the use of this product should be for you
own home use only, and should not be used for commercial
duplication. These products should only be used to make
backup copies of videos under "fair use". We do not
promote any illegal copying of copyrighted material.
·
Once you’ve stored your shows and movies on the hard disk
drive, you have lots of options
·
You can keep them on the hard disk drive for repeat
viewing. Watch some of them once or twice and then delete
them, keeping the others. When you delete content, you
free up space for other material.
·
You can burn some of the content onto a DVD either a DVD-R
or DVD-RW and then keep this content on the hard disk
drive, or delete it. Your choice.
Storage Capacity
·
So, how much material will fit on an 160GB hard disk drive
and on a DVD? It depends upon the DVD recorder, the
recording quality you select, and the type of programming.
Here are the recorders’ approximate recording capacities,
by quality level:
Speed Level Hard Disk Drive DVD Disc
XP+ Approx. 23 hours -
XP Approx. 34 hours 1 hour/ 1.8 hours dual layer
SP Approx. 68 hours 2 hours/ 3.5 hours dual layer
LP Approx. 136 hours 4 hours/ 7.1 hours dual layer
EP Approx. 204 hours 6 hours/ 10.7 hours dual layer
SLP Approx. 272 hours 8 hours/ 17.3 hours dual layer

DVD-R or DVD-RW?:
What’s the best type of DVD blank media for you? Two major
factors are:
Whether or not you want to permanently keep your
content on the DVD.
Recordings of favorite shows and valuable home movies
should be permanently archived on a DVD-R, on which your
content cannot accidentally be erased. Once you finalize
recording onto a DVD-R, the program is permanent. On the
other hand, you can use a DVD-RW on which content can be
erased and the space re-used to record something else for
temporary storage and sharing content with friends.
The maximum speed of the blank media.
We recommend that you buy blank DVD media that matches or
exceeds the maximum recording speed of your recorder. For
example, the DVR-630H-S has an 8x speed recording
capability, so using 8x blank DVD media to record will get
the maximum speed out of the recorder.
Burning Content to DVD
Recording material from the hard disk drive onto a DVD
goes quickly. For example, the DVR-630H-S features an 8x
drive, and when recording in EP mode with 8x blank media,
you can actually record certain content at an incredible
48x speed. After using a S-L-O-W VCR for so long, you’re
really going to love DVD recording. And keep in mind, the
DVD-R/RW discs you create will play on most players almost
anywhere, even in your car or on your laptop.
Chase Play: Prime Time Starts Now
Attention TV lovers: let’s say that you are recording your
favorite program, but you end up getting home early while
it’s still recording. Good news: you don’t have to wait
until the recording’s done to see your show. With Chase
Play, you can watch the program from the beginning as the
rest of the program is being recorded. You can also stop
or pause a show that you’re recording. Both the DVR-530H-S
and the DVR-320-S have the Chase Play feature.
Disc Backup and Bit-for-Bit Recording (DVR-630H-S)
Here’s one related feature you should know about. The
DVR-630H-S also features Disc Backup, a Pioneer exclusive.
You can make a direct file transfer of a program you’ve
recorded onto a DVD, such as a home movie, to the
recorder’s hard disk drive. And from that, you can make as
many copies of your original DVD as you want, all at
blazing speed. This is a great feature even for
videophiles who do their editing on a home computer, burn
their material to DVD, and then want to make copies. And
unlike other hard disk drive-to-DVD recorders, the
DVR-630H-S doesn’t re-compress the video to another
format; it makes a perfect copy that is bit-for-bit
identical to the original, every time.
Fantastic features of the DVR630H include:
160GB Hard Disk Drive for extra long recording capacity
The DVR630H has a 160GB HDD enabling up to 455 hours of
programming onto its hard drive. You can keep several
seasons’ worth of your favourite programs or football
games at your fingertips!
Playback formats
Pioneer DVD recorders record data in DVD-R/RW format. The
DVR630H not only plays back DVD-R/RW discs, but also discs
in the DVD+R/+RW, DVD-RAM, CD and VCD. What's more, this
DVD recorder can also record onto Dual-Layer DVD-R which
can hold up to 24 hours of recording!
Easy Viewing, Editing and Output of Digital Pictures
Simply plug in your digital camera or other USB-equipped
device into the front or back of Pioneer’s DVR630H to
import JPEG files onto the Hard Disk Drive. What’s more,
you can print pictures without starting up your computer
by connecting a PictBridge-compatible printer. You can
even connect a keyboard for easy title input for recorded
TV programs, pictures and Juke box.
Digital Jukebox in your Living Room
Pioneer’s DVR630H comes complete with your very own
digital jukebox- perfect for parties! This feature lets
you save up to 16,000 songs from your CD collection to the
recorder’s hard disk. You can even rename albums or delete
unwanted tracks. You can even program a list of party
tracks!
Download Content from your DV Camcorder
With Pioneer’s DVR630H, managing the audio and video
you’ve gathered with your DV camcorder is simple and
enjoyable. With a i.LINK terminal, simply connect your DV
camcorder via the front terminal and away you go. When you
import video, the Auto Chapter function automatically
creates chapters so you can easily find your favourite
part later. Even if your camcorder only has analogue video
out connections you can still copy all your favourite
footage onto DVD.
Transfer your library of your favourite VHS tapes onto
DVD
With a Pioneer DVR630H you can transfer and preserve your
family memories forever. What’s more, you can rest assured
that your DVD disc will last longer than a VHS tape.
Quick Location of Content
With Pioneer’s Disc Navigator, finding that one program is
simpler than ever. You can quickly scroll through the mini
screens (with sound) of the recorded content until you
find the right one. You can choose between 2 display
modes- 4 titles or 8 titles per screen.
World’s First 24-hour Capacity Dual Layer DVD-R
With Pioneer’s DVR630H, a Dual-Layer DVD-R can hold up to
24 hours of content in Manual (MN1) mode- this is
approximately 1.8 times the capacity of a standard DVD-R
disc.
High-speed copying
Transfer content from the hard disk drive to DVD’s at
lightning speed without sacrificing audio and video
quality. What’s more, as the hard drive and the DVD are
all contained in the one system, one-touch copying is a
breeze.

A built-in multi-system TV tuner is included, so you don’t
have to connect to another component to receive a
terrestrial TV signal.
