Toshiba's SD-265 is surprisingly slim and compact...probably
TOO slim and compact. It is made of all plastic. I'm not sure what
the advantage is to having a DVD player this small, unless maybe you
want to put it on top of a small TV or something. The disc tray is also
uncomfortably slim (and flimsy), so you must exercise extreme caution
when inserting and removing discs. Size aside, the real problem I have
with my SD-K741 is its tendency to freeze and/or pixelate once or twice
during almost every movie I play on it. These incidents happen
completely at random and for no apparent reason. The SD-265 also seems
to have trouble returning to a DVD's menu after play is started. If
you're watching a disc and you stop it and press MENU, nothing happens.
You need to eject the disc and sit through those annoying FBI warnings
all over again just to get back to the main menu. These problems are so
terrible and so frequent that they render the player unusable; I
exchanged it twice for new ones and they all did the same thing. MY TV
IS TOSHIBA, MY OLD DVD PLAYER IS TOSHIBA, AND I NEVER HAD PROBLEMS WITH
THEM. I exchanged it for a JVC dvd player formore $ , and it works
perfectly.

Not the best player I've ever purchased but for the price
it is okay. It works most of the time, sometimes it says no
disc when you put a disc in the tray. Usually it works good
and plays all my foreign movies. I have another player for my
USA movies, so it's okay.
Not
good
Reviewer: (Los Angeles, CA USA)
I am very
dissappointed in this player. It has not lived up to it's expectations.
It does play all region dvd movies, but it stops and freezes. I am just
not happy with it.
